Sri Sacchidananda Bharati III is Jagadguru of Sringeri Sharada Peetham between 1770 and 1814. His spiritual greatness commanded the veneration of the Muslim and Hindu rulers of Mysore, Peshwa Madhava Rao and Peshwa Bajirao, Mahadji Sinde, Nizam Ali Khan and the governors of the East India Company.

Hyder Ali (1722–1782) and his son Tipu Sultan (1750–1799) has profound respect for the Jagadguru. During the Third Anglo-Mysore War (1790 - 1792) the commands of Parasuram Bhau destroyed Sringeri. Tipu Sultan aided the restoration of the temple and the re-consecration of the image of Sri Sharada. He also sought the blessings of the Acharya and requested him to perform Sata Chandi and Sahasra Chandi Japa and Homa to the strength of his arms. The Sultan acknowledged the miraculous effects of the Yajna that led to success in his enterprise and how rains poured and the land flourished. Tipu wrote many letters between 1791 and 1798 to the Acharya, and every one of them showed high veneration he had for the swamiji.

Nizam-ul-Mulk, the founder of the Asaf Jahi dynasty in Hyderabad, evinced very high respect for the Jagadguru and issued several special privileges.

The Acharya was on pilgrimage in 1805. The Governor met the Acharya at Madras and paid his respects. East India Company provided an armed retinue for his safety with instructions to the officers. After visiting Tirupati, Kanchi, Kalahasti, Madurai, Rameshwaram, Thiruvananthapuram and other holy places, he went to Srirangapatnam and returned to Sringeri.

The Acharya went to Harakeri for the Chaturmasya vows and cast off his mortal body. The Maharaja had declared it as a Sarvamanya village belonging to Sringeri Samsthanam.
